In all organs in our body, I guess the most intrinsic, precious and fragile organ is the brain. The brain is the one that makes life. Working in ICU for almost 10 months plus, I am more taxing in taking care of brain hemorrhage patients. Subtle change either in neurological response or vital sign could be lethal. High BP risks of re-bleed. Low BP risks of decreasing cerebral perfusion and thus leads to ischaemic brain tissues. Liver tissues can regenerate. Kidney can substitute with dialysis. Brain tissues died is death. And a normal person can simply turn to vegetative. Sometimes the patient may very drowsy at that moment and better in the next hour. The wax and wane neurological changes do put you in dilemma especially at night. I pray that God grant me the wisdom to know when is in deep sleep is and when is deteriorating. It is important to detect the slightest change and know when to inform. Any delay treatment can result in irreversible damage. With blanket covered the patient, you might miss out when this below started.
